Why Callio
Some answers only exist on the phone
Hours online are wrong. Stock counts are stale. The only way to know is to ask someone, and the only way to ask is to call.
One simple question takes a whole ordeal to ask
Is the item actually in stock? How late are they really open tonight? Can they accommodate an allergy or a special request? To know for sure, you have to call. And that means working yourself up to talk to a stranger, rehearsing what you're going to say, navigating automated menus, and waiting on hold, all to ask one simple question. So a lot of us skip the call, drive over, and take our chances. And often enough you get all the way there, find out it isn't what you needed, and the whole trip was for nothing.
That's where Callio comes in
Tell Callio what you need, in your own words. Callio makes the call, sits through the menu, waits on hold, and asks your questions one at a time. Anyone can dial a number. The hard part is staying on the line until you actually get an answer. Callio brings back what they said and shows you the whole conversation, so you can see the answer for yourself, along with any conditions or details that came with it. This is the only kind of call Callio makes, which is why it knows what to do when a phone tree answers instead of a person.
All in on one kind of call
Built for one call. Nothing else.
Most AI phone assistants are demos. Impressive for two minutes, lost on a real phone tree. Callio is built for the phone tree: no settings, no scripts, no agent to train, because calling a business is the only thing it does.

It calls US businesses on Google Maps. That is the whole product. It will not answer your phone or call your mom, and that is the point.
Everything a general phone AI leaves to you, Callio already handles.
Why Callio only makes one kind of call
Plenty of AI can place a call. Almost none can survive one. We did not build a general AI. We built the one that calls any business on Google Maps. Chasing demo power means doing everything, and doing everything means doing nothing well. We keep our feet on the ground and put all of our effort into this one kind of call, so it solves your problem all the way through.
-
Nothing to set up
There is no voice to pick, no script to write and no agent to configure. Those settings exist in general-purpose phone tools because the tool does not know what call it will make. Callio always knows.
-
Every part is built for this call
A real phone call is messy. The menu has seven options and none of them is yours. The hold music stops and starts. Someone picks up, asks who is calling, and hands you to someone else. A recording says they are closed, then keeps talking. We put our effort into exactly that mess, one case at a time, so the call goes the way you would want it to go if you had made it yourself.
-
Why an app, not an API or a website
The share sheet from Google Maps only exists on your phone. Share a listing and Callio already has the business, its number and its hours, with nothing to paste. The errand shows up while you are holding your phone, the call happens while you put it down, and the answer comes back as a notification. A website makes you type it all in, and an API makes you build it yourself. We built the app so the whole thing is a few taps.
-
What it says no to
Callio does not answer your phone, call a personal contact, sit in your meetings or act as a receptionist for a business. Saying no to those is what lets it do this one call well.
The calls worth not making yourself
-
Is it actually in stock
The site says available. The shelf is the only place that knows. Ask before you drive over.
-
How long is the wait
A restaurant at 7pm on a Friday. The answer changes by the hour and is never posted anywhere.
-
Can they fit me in today
A salon, a garage, a walk-in clinic. Availability lives in someone's book, not on a page.
-
Do they even do this, and what does it cost
Car repair, a specific service, a specific part. A price nobody publishes until you ask.
-
Cancelling something with no cancel button
A dentist, a reservation, an order already placed. Plenty of places still only take this by phone.
-
The question with nowhere to look it up
Is the game on tonight. Is there a deposit on the room. Does the deli still close early on Sundays.
